Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced significant new gas and condensate discovery at its Dars West-3 well which is located in Tando Allah Yar, Sindh and the discovery is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s indigenous energy resource and reduce reliance on imported fuel and According to the company the Dars West-3 well is currently producing 9.70 million standard cubic feet per day of gas along with 580 barrels per day of condensate.

Technical Details of Dars West-3 Well

The well was drilled to total depth of 2100 metres using OGDCL’s in-house technical expertise where the  OGDCL Discovers Gas at Sindh Dars West-3 and During production testing:

  • Gas flow rate: 9.70 MMSCFD
  • Condensate production: 580 BPD
  • Choke size: 36/64 inches
  • Wellhead flowing pressure: 1,725 psi

The gas was tested from the Lower Goru C-Sand reservoir that indicates strong reservoir performance and commercial viability.

Strengthening the Lower Goru Formation Potential

The discovery further confirms hydrocarbon potential of the Lower Goru Formation which is one of Pakistan’s most productive gas bearing geological formations and OGDCL Discovers Gas at Sindh Dars West-3 and OGDCL termed the result encouraging stating that the discovery reinforces the prospectivity of the area and enhances the company’s domestic oil and gas portfolio.

Pipeline Connection to National Gas Network

OGDCL has already started pipeline laying work to connect Dars West-3 with the KPD-TAY processing plant and Once the connection is completed:

  • Gas will be processed at the plant.
  • It will then be injected into the network of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).
  • The additional gas volumes will contribute to Pakistan’s national gas supply system.

This development is expected to help ease gas shortages in the country.

Ownership and Working Interest

The Dars West Development and Production Lease is operated by OGDCL with a 77.5% working interest and The remaining 22.5% share is held by Government Holdings Private Limited.
